Circular Saw
A Circular saw is a portable saw with an abrasive disc used to cut various materials using the force of a rotary spinning around an arbor. Similar to a table saw but handheld, the circular saw has a high sawing capacity with a high precision hence an effective solution for a variety of woodworking projects.
The circular saw utilizes a toothed circular blade to cut through a variety of materials. A circular saw can be used to cut large pieces of wood, plastic, masonry, concrete, or metal. It’s also used to cut tiles and bricks. The saw is excellent in making curvilinear and straight cuts.
You’ll need this saw if you’re a professional DIYer looking to cut large materials quickly and accurately in a construction site or workshop. You can use it for miter sawing using the instructions given to make straight cuts.
There are three main types of Circular Saws:
- Sidewinder
- Worm Drive
- Hypoid
Sidewinder (sometimes called an in-line saw) is the most popular with its motor on the saw’s side, making it more compact. A Worm Drive Saw has its motor placed towards the saw’s back, making it longer and narrower than the Sidewinder. A Hypoid differs from the Worm Drive in that it has different transmission and gearbox. As its name suggests, it uses a Hypoid gear.
