SawsHub publishes woodworking, tool and DIY guides written by a father and son. This page explains who writes our articles, how we evaluate tools, how we make money, and how we keep our guides accurate.
Who writes SawsHub
Every article on SawsHub is published under one of two names.
- Dennis Bauman has done home repair, remodeling and DIY work for nearly 40 years and now builds custom furniture, windows and doors. He writes the saw, tool and woodworking guides and is the person in our videos.
- Jared Bauman founded SawsHub after fixing up a foreclosure with Dennis. He writes the DIY project, paint and home improvement guides and edits the site.
The byline on each article tells you who is responsible for it. You can read more about both of them on our About page.
What we cover
SawsHub started because Jared could not find clear help when he needed to buy a tile saw. We still write for that reader: someone in the middle of a project who needs to pick the right tool, learn a technique, or work out a measurement. Our guides cover saws, power tools, drill bits and fasteners, wood finishing, and DIY projects for the home and yard.
How we evaluate tools
Our tool guides draw on Dennis’s experience with saws, drills and shop machines, along with research into each product’s specs, features, price and owner feedback.
- We judge each tool against what the job requires, not against a generic checklist.
- We say what we like and what we do not like about each product.
- We do not rank a product higher because it pays a higher commission or because a brand asked us to.
Independence
- Our reviews are our own and are not influenced by third parties.
- Unless an article says so, we do not accept free products in exchange for a review.
- We are not paid by outside brands unless the content is clearly labeled as sponsored.
How SawsHub makes money
SawsHub earns money in two ways:
- Affiliate links. When you buy through a link to Amazon or another retailer, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. See our Disclaimer for details.
- Our own patterns. We sell scroll saw pattern packs in the SawsHub shop.
SawsHub does not run display ads.
Safety
Saws and power tools can cause serious injury. Our guides include safety steps where they matter, but they do not replace the tool manufacturer’s manual or training. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions, wear eye and hearing protection, and use guards and push sticks. Our Terms of Service cover this in more detail.
Updates and corrections
Tools get discontinued, prices change and new models come out. We review and update our guides when the information in them changes. When we find a mistake, or a reader points one out, we fix it.
If you spot something wrong, email [email protected] with the article URL and what needs fixing.
